alias Emil or RK took eight lawyers as legal representatives to face the divorce suit of his wife, DPR member from the Golkar faction Atalia Praratya.
The first trial of the divorce lawsuit was held at the Bandung City Religious Court (PA), Wednesday (17/12) today.
The trial will begin with a mediation stage in court.However, neither Atalia nor RK appeared to be present at this initial trial, and were only represented by their respective attorneys.

One of Ridwan Kamil’s attorneys, Wenda Aluwi, said that he was present to represent Ridwan Kamil at the initial trial.Meanwhile, Ridwan Kamil could not attend in person because he was out of town.
“Today Mr. Ridwan Kamil cannot attend because he still has activities outside the city,” Wenda told reporters at the Bandung City Religious Court.
Even though he was not physically present, Wenda emphasized that his client still respected the ongoing legal process.The presence of a legal representative, he said, is RK’s compliance with the lawsuit that has been registered in court.
“The message from Mr. RK is to respect each other’s legal process. There has already been a lawsuit, and today we are here to represent him,” said Wenda.
Wenda also revealed that Ridwan Kamil appointed a large legal team to handle the divorce case.
“There are a total of eight legal representatives,” he said.
Previously, Atalia’s lawyer, Debi Agusfriansa, also confirmed that her client could not attend for official reasons.Despite being physically absent, Debi said Atalia respected the court process.
“Mrs. Atalia told us that basically she really respects this trial process. However, because of an official event, she was unable to attend, so she represented us as legal counsel,” Debi explained to journalists before the trial at the Bandung City Religious Court, Wednesday morning.
Apart from that, he said, his client also prays and hopes for the best.
“The demand itself is of course, hopefully Mrs. Atalia will just pray for each other. Hopefully there will be the best for Mrs. [Atalia] and Mr. [RK],” he said.
He explained that the registration or filing of the divorce suit was carried out by his party on behalf of Atalia through the e-Court system to the Bandung City Religious Court.All of this, he said, was carried out last week until finally the first trial was held today at the Bandung City Religious Court.
“In preparation for today’s trial, of course we have been preparing since last week, we started submitting activities via e-court. And today the first trial is scheduled,” explained Debi.
Previously, Public Relations of the Bandung Religious Court, Ikhwan Sofyan, explained that according to procedural law, the appointed panel of judges would summon the parties to attend the initial hearing.Ikhwan said the initial stages of the trial included checking the identities of the parties and legal representatives.
He said that after these initial stages, the trial would continue with a mediation process.Determining whether the trial will be held openly or closed is the authority of the panel of judges.

According to him, in the mediation process the parties are in principle required to be present in person.However, under certain conditions, attendance can be delegated to a legal representative.
Atalia and Ridwan Kamil are known to have married on December 7 1996.
From that marriage, the two of them were blessed with two children, namely the late Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz and Camillia Laetitia Azzzahra.In 2020, the couple also adopted a boy named Arkana Aidan Misbach.
Atalia is a member of Commission VIII DPR from the Golkar faction which is in charge of religious and social affairs.He was elected in the legislative elections in 2024.
Meanwhile, when he joined Golkar at the end of his term as Governor of West Java in early 2023, Ridwan Kamil obtained the position of Deputy General Chair for Voter Mobilization under the leadership of General Chair Airlangga Hartarto.
