This film tells the story of a talented but troubled young police officer in Baltimore.He was recruited by the FBI to help profile and track a killer.

On New Year’s Eve in Baltimore there was a mass shooting targeting civilians.Police officer Eleanor Falco (Shailene Woodley) was one of those who responded to the report and identified the shooter’s location.
At police headquarters, a manhunt begins under the leadership of FBI Special Agent Lammark (Ben Mendelson).Lammark meets Eleanor in the break room, and is impressed with her.
The next day, Lammark meets with Eleanor because he wants to pair her with Jack McKenzie (Jovan Adepo) as a liaison with the Baltimore police during the investigation.

Lammark reveals to Eleanor that he has learned that Eleanor once applied to join the FBI, but failed a psychological test.
Eleanor explains she suffered from various mental health problems and addictions in the past which led to her failing to get into the FBI.However, after slowly recovering, he joins the police force to get his life back.
When Lammark, Eleanor, and McKenzie go to the morgue to check on the shooting victim, they get news that the Baltimore police have surrounded the shooter.
This news made the three of them immediately rush to the alleged perpetrator’s apartment.When the police broke into the apartment, the young man chose instead to commit suicide by jumping from the window.
The next day, mass shootings occurred again and now in the shopping center area.This made them realize that the mass shooting case was not over.
Even more so, Eleanor has to fight with her own mind in the middle of handling the case.He wanted to go back to doing things in the past, until he remembered the statement of one of the witnesses in the case.
The film, which was originally titled Misanthrope, was changed to To Catch a Killer and was released in the US on April 21 2023. This film was directed by Damián Szifron from a script he wrote with Jonathan Wakeham.
