reported on Thursday (13/11), that the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada (2006) will follow the efforts of the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep, in the midst of a dying print media industry in the digital era.
Miranda will then face Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), her former assistant who is now a high-ranking official at a luxury group with advertising funds that Miranda really needs.
With this story, this film will be set 20 years after the events of the first film, where Andy Sachs has just graduated from journalism college and is accepted as Miranda’s assistant in a fashion world that is far from his character and ideals.
The film, whose script was written by Aline Brosh McKenna, is an adaptation of the novel of the same title by Lauren Weisberger which is said to tell the story of the writer’s personal experience when she was assistant to the editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour.
Miranda Priestly’s cold-handed character, very demanding with high standards, is said to be similar to the way Anna Wintour led Vogue for decades.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 was first confirmed to be made in July 2024 and in May 2025, the film was announced to be released in May 2026. This project is again being directed by David Frankel with a script also written by McKenna.
Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, and Tibor Feldman return to this project.A number of new faces are also said to be attending, including Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, Donatella Versace and Lady Gaga.
