The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared a number of steps to anticipate the peak of tidal flooding in the coastal areas of the capital city, today, Friday (5/12).
A number of Water Resources Service (SDA) pumps were alerted to mitigate the peak of tidal flooding.
“Efforts to mitigate potential tidal floods are carried out by alerting flood control pumps, both stationary pumps and mobile pumps and also flood gates,” said DKI Jakarta SDA Secretary, Nughararyadi, Friday (5/12).

Pump houses and sluice gates will be alerted to anticipate tidal floods at a number of points, namely Marina Sluice Gate, Kali Asin Pump/Polder, Ancol Pump, PIK Junction Pump, Muara Angke Pump, Fish Market Pump, Tanjungan Pump, Pluit Reservoir Pump House, Kamal Polder Pump House.
Based on data up to November 2025, the SDA Department has 609 stationary pump units spread across 209 locations. Then there are 627 mobile pump units spread across 5 administrative cities.
Mobile pumps, he said, are used to reach flood or puddle locations that cannot be reached by stationary pumps.
Apart from that, continued Nughararyadi, the SDA Service has also alerted a task force or Blue Army to move if tidal floods occur on the coast of Jakarta. The Blue Troops will also be deployed to stand guard and carry out routine monitoring to ensure field conditions remain under control.
Nughararyadi said that the SDA department had carried out the construction of National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) Phase A coastal safety embankments in 8 clusters. The eight clusters are the Kamal Muara area, Muara Angke area, Pluit area, Muara Baru-East Coast area, Sunda Kelapa area, West Ancol area, Marunda area, Tanjungan area.
Apart from that, the SDA Department is also building mitigation embankments in areas that are often hit by tidal floods, namely in the Baywalk Pluit area and Ujung Muara Angke Pier. The construction of the mitigation embankment was carried out as a temporary measure while waiting for the construction of the NCICD embankment in the area.
Nughararyadi said that the series of mitigation efforts are expected to be effective in anticipating potential flooding due to extreme weather and tidal floods.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung previously asked all levels of the SDA Department to increase vigilance and strengthen preparedness at vulnerable points.
“Since yesterday I have received data and I have conveyed to the public that tidal floods will occur, and they will occur today. The peak of tidal floods will be tomorrow 5 (December) at 9 am,” said Pramono in Central Jakarta, Thursday (4/12).
Pramono said preparedness was needed because tidal waves could occur at the same time as high intensity rain which was predicted to occur in the second week of December.According to him, the combination of high tide and high rainfall increases the risk of inundation.
“Especially in places where we have predicted that tidal floods will occur, one of which is Muara Angke, Marunda, and so on. Thus, mitigating this disaster is important,” he said.
According to Pramono, the threat of flooding will not stop until December 5 or 6.The next tidal wave has the potential to appear in the third week of December, while the peak of high rainfall is expected to occur in January.
Previously, Pramono also stated that the DKI Provincial Government would help patch leaks in the sea embankment in the coastal area of Muara Baru, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.
“We are fully aware that today and tomorrow (Friday), the peak tomorrow will be at 09.00 am, the flood will definitely be very high. Therefore, the Jakarta Government is helping to patch the leak that occurred,” said Pramono quoted by Antara.
