This award ends the dominance of the Philippines, a country with a coastline stretching more than 36,000 kilometers, which held the title in previous years.

Algarve secured the title for the fourth time in history and set an unprecedented record.The Algarve surpasses iconic beach destinations such as the Maldives and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

After a voting period involving tourism professionals, specialized press and tourists from around the world, the Algarve stood out among 19 nominated destinations, including Porto Santo and other globally recognized beach destinations such as Thailand, Cancún (Mexico), Seychelles, the Philippines and Zanzibar.
