Hangabehi was crowned successor to the royal throne after the extended family of the Surakarta Palace held a meeting at the Sasana Handrawina of the Surakarta Palace

The meeting was attended by representatives of the kings of the Surakarta Palace, Sentana Dalem, and the associations supported by the Palace.
Also present at the meeting were Pakubuwana XIII’s younger siblings.
Among them are the King ad interim of the Surakarta Palace, KG Panembahan Agung Tedjowulan, GRAy Koes Moertiyah Wandansari alias Gusti Moeng, and GPH Suryo Wicaksono or usually Gusti Nenok.
“At that time there was an inauguration. The inauguration of his son Pakubuwana XIII, namely Gusti Mangkubumi, as Prince Pati or future king,” said Nenok after the meeting.
Nenok said the situation at Sasana Handrawina had heated up after the coronation of Prince Pati.Mangkubumi’s brother, GKR Timoer Rumbay, stormed Sasana Handrawina, where the coronation was held.
“They said that this event contradicted their internal communications,” said Nenok.

Timoer accused Hangabehi of betraying the agreement of the Pakubuwana XIII nuclear family regarding who would be the successor to the royal throne after the death of his father.
“I’m just sad, Gusti Mangkubumi (KGPH Hangabehi) could betray us sons and daughters, brothers and sisters. That’s all I regret,” said Timoer.
He revealed the contents of the family meeting which was witnessed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, Solo Mayor Respati Ardi, and Former Solo Mayor Teguh Prakosa.
“We have spoken even in front of the Governor, Mr Respati and Mr Gibran. We have spoken,” said Timoer.
“We have agreed on a crown prince which is Prince Adipati Anom Hamangkunagoro. There I have mentioned that and we have agreed,” he added.
Timoer said the meeting that appointed Mangkubumi as successor to the royal throne did not meet the requirements.He argued that the meeting was not attended by the immediate family of Pakubuwana XIII.
Apart from that, the meeting was not attended by most of Pakubuwana XIII’s younger siblings.

On the other hand, Kanjeng Gusti Panembahan Agung Tedjowulan admitted that he was framed to approve the coronation of KGPH Hangabehi alias Mangkubumi as Prince of Pati or future King of the Surakarta Palace.
Tedjowulan admitted that the meeting was held on his initiative.However, he had no idea that Mangkubumi’s coronation would be held at that meeting.
“I mboten nate (never) was invited to discuss confirmation and so on,” said Tedjowulan.

Purbaya’s brother confirmed that Jumenengan Dalem Binayangkare Pakubuwana XIV would still be held as planned.Pakubuwana XIII’s youngest child will be inaugurated as King of the Surakarta Palace on Saturday (15/11).
