A video shows piles of thousands of pieces of wood filling Parkit Beach in Padang City, West Sumatra after flash floods occurred in the area.
In the video uploaded by the Instagram account @antaranewscom, piles of wood can be seen filling the estuary and lip of Parkit Beach on Friday (28/11).

Still in the video, the beach water looks brownish in color.Apart from piles of wood, various rubbish was also seen piled up at the location.
“On Friday (28/11), the estuary area and lip of Parakeet Beach were covered with thousands of pieces of wood and other drifting rubbish. This condition disrupted fishermen’s access and changed the appearance of the beach significantly,” said the statement in the upload.
In the video, two people can also be seen standing and sitting on piles of wood that fill the Parakeet Beach area.
Meanwhile, in the upload statement, residents who want to see the piles of wood on Parakeet Beach are advised to be careful.
“Meanwhile, those who want to view or collect wood are advised to remain alert, because the land around the location is still unstable and the current in the estuary is quite strong,” he said.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the total number of victims who died due to floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra was 303 people as of Saturday (29/11).
The most recorded victims came from North Sumatra, namely 166 people.
Meanwhile, aid distribution has been underway since the last few days.Sending aid via air is a priority because transportation access is blocked by landslides.
The government deployed 11 helicopters belonging to the TNI and Basarnas.Then BNPB also sent logistical assistance using helicopters and planes.
