“You can be sure that national action will take place, what date? After December 24 (2025). Until January (2026) we can take action in volumes, in waves. If the governor betrays, change the President’s (Prabowo Subianto) decision,” he stressed in a Press Conference via Zoom, Wednesday (17/12).
The government has determined that the 2026 UMP formula is Inflation + (Economic Growth x Alpha).The alpha set is 0.5-0.9.KSPI agrees with the 2026 UMP formula, as long as the specific index or alpha used is 0.9.
“We want to fight at 0.9, that’s fine. If the regent/mayor agrees, that’s fine. Thus, national action will most likely only be possible after December 24 (2025),” continued Iqbal.
Iqbal emphasized that he was not obstructing demonstrations in the region.In fact, he said the place where workers should protest was the governor’s offices.
Moreover, Iqbal heard workers’ complaints that DKI Jakarta and West Java were preparing to use low alpha.The man who also serves as President of the Labor Party demands that the alpha used in determining the 2026 UMP is 0.9.
“Why haven’t there been any instructions yet for negotiations? Like the Governor of West Java (Dedi Mulyadi) 0.5, the Governor of DKI Jakarta (Pramono Anung) 0.7. What is this? There are no instructions yet for negotiations, this is the old government style,” said Iqbal.
“KSPI asks fellow workers, they must be guarded, they must be prosecuted, they must be demonstrated, go to the governor’s office first. We will instruct the regions to take action first. Because we are worried that the governor will change the number to 0.9, we want to fight,” he stressed.
If the government sets an alpha of 0.9, Iqbal predicts that DKI Jakarta’s UMP in 2026 will increase by 6.9 percent.Jakarta’s 2025 UMP is IDR 5,396,761, meaning an increase of 6.9 percent makes DKI wages next year IDR 5,769,137.
“Perhaps nationally, on average (the 2026 UMP increase) is 7.2 percent. If we use national economic growth, inflation is national. If national inflation is 2.86 percent, economic growth is 5.04 percent. With this figure, it is 7.2 percent-7.3 percent,” explained Iqbal.
“For DKI, for example (alpha) 0.5, the increase (UMP 2026) is only 4.3 percent. We reject it, if it uses 0.5 we totally reject it!”he concluded.
