, will cover all costs of the Malaysian Football Association (
FAM
) in making an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
FAM intends to appeal to CAS after an appeal to FIFA was rejected by the world football body regarding the case of fake documents in naturalizing seven Malaysian national team players.
Malaysia has 21 days to submit an appeal to CAS after FIFA’s rejection decision which fell on Monday (3/11).

In the struggle to CAS, the Sultan of Johor Tunku Ismail said he would help finance FAM.
“I bear all the costs, not the people’s money,” said Ismail, who is familiarly called Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ), quoted from

In the report, it was also stated that this statement showed TMJ’s concern about the fate of the seven players involved.
Apart from FAM being punished by FIFA with a fine of 350,000 Swiss francs or the equivalent of IDR 7.3 billion, the seven players involved were also punished with 2,000 Swiss francs or around IDR 41.2 million and banned from playing for 12 months.
The seven Malaysian players punished by FIFA are Gabriel Palmero, Facundo Garces, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal and Hector Hevel.
Rodrigo Holgado could have had an unfortunate fate.The Argentinian-born player is threatened with having his club contract, America de Cali, terminated after FAM’s appeal was rejected by FIFA.
