This was stated after various speculations emerged about the cause of the deceased’s death.
This assertion refers to Investigation Report Number R/886/X/2024, which states the cause of death was hanging.
This conclusion was strengthened by the results of the autopsy examination by the Forensic Team led by Dr.Heryadi Bawono Putro, who found indications of death due to “Incomplete Hanging” or hanging himself from a sitting position.
Responding to requests from some families to carry out re-autopsies, Heri explained that there was a Response Letter from Puspom TNI AD Number R/1316/XI/2025.
“This rejection is based on the consideration that the initial investigation process has been supported by the results of official medical examinations that have been carried out, both post-mortem and autopsy at Balikpapan Hospital according to procedures,” he said.
Heri also emphasized that the reason for the funeral of the deceased was not carried out officially and without the wrapping of the Red and White Flag.
“Military burial rights are given to soldiers who are declared fallen, killed or have died in the ordinary world. However, if they die due to actions that damage their image, these rights are lost,” he said.
Heri said that his party needed to provide clarification because there was a lot of speculation about Charles’ death.
“We invite the entire extended family of the deceased and the community to pray together that the soul of the late Sergeant Charles Telehala will be accepted by God Almighty, forgiven for all his sins and mistakes, and placed in the best place in His presence,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Serda Charles Telehala was found dead on August 11 2024 at Barak K (Antasari) Dodikjur Rindam/Mulawarman, Balikpapan.
When he was found, he was in a sitting position with his right leg folded, wearing a green TNI t-shirt and trousers, and his head was wrapped in a rope.Initial information received stated that the death was caused by severe stress due to problems in a romantic relationship.
