Tbk responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s order to do so
auditing
and company evaluation on suspicion of being one of the causes of the disaster in North Sumatra.
“The management of PT Toba Pulp Lestari Tbk respects the government’s decision and steps to carry out an audit and totality of the company,” said Director of Toba Pulp Lestari Anwar Lawden in a written statement, Tuesday (16/12).
The issuer coded INRU will also be supportive, cooperative and open to the audit process that will be carried out, to ensure that governance can be carried out better.

“This is in line with the company’s commitment to carry out activities in accordance with applicable permits, procedures, rules and regulations, and always apply the principles of sustainable forest management in managing its concessions,” said Anwar.
The company itself has denied being involved in causing the floods which claimed thousands of lives.
The rebuttal was conveyed via an official letter to the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) on Monday (1/12).
“The company firmly denies accusations that operations are the cause of an ecological disaster,” said Anwar in the letter.
Anwar explained that of the total area of 167,912 hectares, the company only developed eucalyptus plants covering around 46 thousand hectares, while the rest was maintained as a protected and conservation area.
Based on the Audit of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in 2022-2023, the company was declared to comply with all regulations without environmental or social violations.
“Regarding the allegations of deforestation, we emphasize that the Company carries out harvesting and replanting operations within the concession based on the spatial layout, General Work Plan (RKU), and Annual Work Plan (RKT) that have been determined by the government,” stressed Anwar.
Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said that his party would carry out an in-depth audit and evaluation of Toba Pulp Lestari on suspicion of being one of the causes of the disaster in North Sumatra.
Raja Juli said this was a direct order from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
“PT Toba Pulp Lestari, PT TPL, which have been widely reported, the President specifically ordered me to carry out a total audit and evaluation of this TPL,” said Raja Juli at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday (15/12) yesterday.
Raja Juli also assigned Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki to monitor this audit and evaluation process.
If this company really violates the rules, he stated that the Ministry of Forestry has the potential to revoke PBPH Toba Pulp or reduce the area of forest land that can be managed.
Based on BNPB data, the number of victims who died due to flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra increased to 1,053 people as of Tuesday (16/12).As many as 360 of them are in North Sumatra.
