UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria underestimates ability

Makhachev managed to beat Jack Della Maddalena with a unanimous decision victory at Madison Square Garden, New York, United States, Sunday (16/11) afternoon WIB.
However, Topuria was not impressed with Makhachev’s victory.The 28 year old fighter is even very confident that he can beat Makhachev by knockout if the two of them meet in a fight in the octagon.

“Islam, you need something you can’t train: emotions. You are the most boring in this [UFC] game,” said Topuria on his X account shortly after Makhachev’s victory as reported by

“Every day I become more confident that I can make you sleep [KO],” he said again.
Topuria also criticized Maddalena.Topuria admitted he was disappointed with the performance shown by the Australian fighter during the five rounds of his fight against Makhachev.
“Jack needs a camp that is completely just for wrestling,” Topuria wrote.
“It’s really disappointing [for] a champion. You have to go to Georgia to learn something.”
With Makhachev’s victory, the potential for him to duel with Topuria in a big fight is possible.
Makhachev’s trainer, Khabib Nurmagomedov, even believes that the clash with Topuria would be the biggest fight on the UFC stage if it could happen.
