This rule applies to countries that do not require a visa to enter the US.
As reported by AFP, based on the proposed new regulations, collecting social media history data will be a mandatory part of the ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) application.
Under this rule, tourists entering the US need to attach their social media history for the last five years.
Tourists must also attach a number of other data including telephone numbers in the last five years, email addresses in the last decade, personal details of family members and biometric information.
This regulation is still in the proposal stage and the public is given 60 days to provide criticism and suggestions regarding the proposal.
The Trump administration has tightened restrictions on entry to the US as part of a massive crackdown on migrants.
