It’s only getting more pressured because current market conditions have weakened.
It was originally believed that the automotive incentive would take effect next year, especially because it was supported by the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, but was recently denied by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto.
“The point is, no matter what the market is down this year. And that’s a fact, whether it’s 780 thousand according to Gaikindo (this year), the fact is that the market is down,” said Auto2000 CEO Anton Jimmy in the BSD Tangerang area last weekend.

The national car sales target has been revised by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) in 2025 to 780 thousand units, from the previous 900 thousand units.

This new target has been reduced significantly considering that economic conditions and the purchasing power of the people of the country are weakening.This figure is even much smaller than the wholesale results for January-December 2024 which reached 865,723 units, while the retail results were 889,680 units.
Anton still hopes that the market will improve again next year.However, it cannot be denied that support from all parties is needed, including government stimulus to boost sales.
“And you need any form of government and stimulus from other parties. Because apart from the government, for example from the credit side, once again we are not blaming, because we also need support from credit, the regional government, all stakeholders to consider that we are talking about industry,” said Anton.
He also emphasized that the automotive industry concerns the livelihoods of many people, so business sustainability is very important.
“Including yes, we at the dealer have hundreds of branches, 7,000 employees, that also needs to survive. This industry is very large and needs support from all parties. We will leave what form it takes to the relevant parties,” said Anton.
Anton added that the Auto2000 market will experience a correction during 2025 with a percentage not much different from the decline in the national market.
In total, wholesales of four-wheeled vehicles and more in January-November 2025 stopped at 710,084 units or down 9.6 percent from the same period last year.Retail fell 8.4 percent to 739,977 units compared to the first 11 months of 2024.
“Yes, the same as the total market,” he said.
