Jakarta Transportation PT (
Transjakarta
) targets to serve more than 400 million customers this year.
PT Transjakarta President Director Welfizon Yuza said that in 2024, Transjakarta will be able to serve around 372 million passengers.
“Last year we served 372 million customers, this year the target is to exceed 400 million. By the third quarter there were 298 million customers. We are optimistic about achieving the target,” said Welfizon in the Balkoters Talk forum at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (4/11).

He also explained that up to now, Transjakarta service coverage has reached 91.8 percent of the Jakarta area.
This means that as many as 9 out of 10 residents can reach the Transjakarta bus stop if they walk from home.
“So 9 out of 10 Jakarta residents walk 5-10 minutes in any direction and will definitely find a bus stop or bus stop,” said Welfizon.
He said Transjakarta continues to transform towards a smart, inclusive and citizen-oriented public transportation service.
Welfizon explained that major changes had occurred since 2015 when Transjakarta transformed from a Technical Implementation Unit to a Limited Liability Company (PT).
Since then, the company’s direction is no longer based solely on bus operations, but on citizen services.
“In the past, (the perspective) was operationally driven, so services were driven from the operational side. But since 2016, we changed the pattern to not being driven from the operational side, but pulling from the customer side,” he said.
Welfizon also said that Transjakarta is currently preparing a new phase towards smart mobility, a public transportation system that is integrated, technology-based and citizen-oriented.
“We are no longer talking about just busways, but about how this service can be part of a smart city, where residents are the center. Because Transjakarta is not only customer centric, but citizen centric,” he said.
