Currently, Tropical Cyclone Grant is in category 1 with a maximum wind speed of 35 knots or around 65 km per hour and a pressure of 996 hPa with movement away from Indonesian territory so it has no effect on weather conditions.
However, this tropical cyclone still has an indirect impact on sea wave conditions on the southern coast of Indonesia.
This cyclonic activity triggers the potential for an increase in wave height in the medium category of 1.25-2.5 meters in a number of Indonesian waters.
Some areas that need to be watched out for are the waters west of Lampung, the southern part of the Sunda Strait, the waters south of Java Island, and the Indian Ocean west of Bengkulu to the south of Java.
Furthermore, in the next 24 hours, Tropical Cyclone Grant is predicted to strengthen in intensity to category 2 with maximum winds reaching 50 knots 95 km per hour while continuing to move west-northwest away from the Indonesian archipelago.
Furthermore, BMKG appealed to people in the affected areas, especially shipping operational operators, to be alert to changes in sea conditions from an early age.
Communities in coastal areas are also expected to continue to monitor BMKG information and local BPBD mitigation directions.
