“Congratulations to the World on the UNSC’s extraordinary vote some time ago recognizing and supporting the peace council, which will be chaired by me, and includes strong and respected world leaders,” Trump said in a post on his social media Truth Social.
Trump said the results of the vote were the largest approval in UN history. He also thanked all UNSC members, including Russia and China, as well as the countries that had supported the resolution, namely “Qatar, Egypt, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey and Jordan”.
“This will be one of the largest agreements in UN history, will lead to further peace throughout the world and is a truly historic moment,” Trump wrote.
The UN Security Council on Monday adopted a resolution proposing the US to establish a BoP in the Gaza Strip and deploy the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to the region.
Thirteen countries supported this resolution, while Russia and China abstained without vetoing.
This resolution is said to support the peace plan in Gaza that Trump proposed on September 29.One of them concerns the formation of the BoP “as a transitional government” in Gaza which will be led by Trump.
With this resolution, the BoP was given the authority to form an ISF that could be deployed under the command of the BoP.Countries wishing to contribute personnel must consult with Egypt and Israel.
The BoP will be given a mandate to govern Gaza until the end of 2027. This body will coordinate reconstruction efforts for the enclave.
The Palestinian Hamas militia group rejected this resolution.Hamas stated that the resolution did not meet the political and humanitarian demands and rights of the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority (PA) welcomed the resolution. The PA said this resolution confirmed the establishment of a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire and encouraged the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
