offered sharp criticism of the elected mayor of New York City,
Zohran Mamdani
, in his speech in Miami on Wednesday (5/11).
Trump believes that the election of Mamdani, the first Muslim and South Asian descendant to lead New York City, reflects Democratic socialist politics more broadly, including in the US Congress.

“If you want to know what the Democrats in Congress want to do to America, just look at the results of yesterday’s election in New York, where their party installed a communist as mayor of the largest city in the country,” Trump said before participants at the American Business Forum.
“Remember, I used to say that we would never have a socialist elected to public office in this country? Now, we are even skipping the socialist stage and directly electing communists,” he added.
Trump even assumed that Mamdani’s victory in New York would only fuel New Yorkers who wanted to flee “communism” to other states like Miami.
“Look at what is happening in various parts of the world – and now the Democratic Party has gone so extreme that Miami will soon become a place of escape for those fleeing communism in New York City,” he continued as quoted

In his statement at the White House on Wednesday morning, Trump avoided directly mentioning Mamdani’s victory.However, that attitude changed when he spoke in Miami.
“After last night’s election results, the choice for all Americans is now very clear, we are faced with communism and common sense,” Trump said.
“And as long as I am still in the White House, the United States will not become a communist country in any form,” he added.
In the morning ahead of the vote, Trump even urged Jews in New York City not to support Mamdani.He branded every Jew who voted for Mamdani a fool.
“Any Jew who voted for Zohran Mamdani, a proven and openly admitted Jew-hater, is a fool!!!”Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.
