The Republican leader’s remarks came a day after he accused the Democrats of “acts of sedition punishable by death.”
In a social media post on Saturday evening, Trump wrote in capital letters: “The traitors who told the military to defy my orders should be in prison by now, not running around on fake media explaining what they said was OK.”

Democratic politicians strongly criticized Trump’s comments.They called it an especially vicious threat against six senators and lawmakers who have all served in the military or intelligence community.
The video, posted on social media last Friday, called on the military to “reject illegal orders.”The video features six Democrats: Mark Kelly (Arizona), Elissa Slotkin (Michigan), Jason Crow (Colorado), Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan (Pennsylvania), and Maggie Goodlander (New Hampshire).
They did not explain what the order was, but Trump has previously ordered the National Guard to be deployed to various cities to quell unrest, although many local officials refused.
In addition, Trump also ordered attacks on ships suspected of smuggling drugs in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, which killed more than 80 people and was considered illegal by experts.
Trump himself has mentioned the death penalty on various occasions before.In 2023, former military official Mark Milley revealed that he secretly contacted his Chinese counterparts after the riots at the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021 to reassure Beijing that the US remained stable and had no intention of attacking China.
In response, Trump wrote on social media: “In the past, the punishment was DEATH!”.
