and its new leader, President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

“It is very important for Israel to maintain a strong and honest dialogue with Syria, and ensure that nothing happens that will disrupt Syria’s evolution into a prosperous country,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform, Monday (1/12).
Trump said he was very satisfied with Syria’s performance under the leadership of Sharaa, who made a historic visit to the White House a few weeks ago.
He assessed that Sharaa worked diligently to ensure good things happened.Trump also said Syria and Israel will have a long and prosperous relationship together.
According to him, the US is making every effort to ensure the Syrian government continues to work to rebuild the war-torn country.
Trump even lifted sanctions on Syria as part of his efforts to help Sharaa. The US says Damascus is joining the global coalition against the Islamic State group.
He has pushed for a security pact between Israel and Syria since President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s Islamist coalition succeeded in overthrowing long-time ruler Bashar al-Assad last year.
Trump sees good relations between Syria and Israel as strengthening his efforts to achieve broader Middle East peace, following the achievement of a fragile Gaza ceasefire last October.
However, tensions increased after Isael launched hundreds of attacks on Syria. The deadliest so far was last Friday’s attack on the village of Beit Jin in southern Syria, which left 13 people dead.
Syria called the Israeli operation a war crime. However, Israel maintains that the operation targeted Islamist groups.
The Israeli military said the attack in Beit Jin targeted fighters from Jemaah Islamiyah, an Islamist group based in Lebanon and allied to Hamas.
