In a statement at a meeting in Pennsylvania, Trump said he would call the two warring countries to end the war that erupted again on Monday (8/12).

“I hate to say this, Cambodia-Thailand, it starts today. Tomorrow I have to make a phone call. I will make a phone call and stop the war between two very powerful countries, Thailand and Cambodia,” Trump said on Tuesday (9/12), as quoted

Trump spoke like this when he was giving a speech about his success in ending various conflicts in the world.He said a number of wars he had helped stop, including Pakistan vs India and Israel vs Iran.
Trump also mentioned that Cambodia-Thailand was among the conflicts he had helped resolve.However, the two countries are now at war again so inevitably he has to intervene again.
The war between Thailand and Cambodia entered its third day on Wednesday (10/12).Thailand reported Cambodia fired a BM-21 rocket near Phanom Dong Rak Hospital in Surin Province on Wednesday morning.
Patients and hospital staff ran for cover in bunkers.
More than 400,000 Thai citizens on the border are now being evacuated.In Cambodia, more than 21,000 residents were evacuated.
Cambodia’s Defense Ministry reported nine civilians killed since Monday and 20 people seriously injured.Meanwhile, Thai officials reported four soldiers killed and 68 people injured.
On Tuesday, Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said there was no opportunity for negotiations in the current conflict.He emphasized that the situation was not conducive to mediation with third parties.
Meanwhile, a top adviser to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet told Reuters his country was “ready to talk at any time”.
The war between the two ASEAN countries erupted on Monday after a Thai soldier was killed in a shootout at dawn on Monday.
Thailand accused Cambodia of starting the attack first.Cambodia denied it and counter-accused Thailand of provoking it.
Thailand and Cambodia are currently in a ceasefire.However, both countries have long accused each other of violating the agreement brokered by Trump.
The first Thai-Cambodian war erupted last July for five days.Bangkok-Phnom Penh then signed a peace agreement in Kuala Lumpur in October after being urged by Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim as chairman of ASEAN this year.
At least 48 people died and around 300,000 people were displaced as a result of the Thailand-Cambodia war in July.
