“We see that this is a request for self-liquidation as a normal process and is actually part of the restructuring and consolidation of the BPR industry,” said Mahendra at the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) Press Conference at the Bank Indonesia (BI) Office, Central Jakarta, Monday (3/11).
“So that BPR will be more efficient and resilient to the shocks and demands needed in the future,” he stressed.
Mahendra emphasized that strengthening the BPR industry in Indonesia will also be supported from various sides. This includes both regulatory and supervisory aspects.
Apart from that, OJK hopes that the role of BPR management and owners in the future can be more optimal.Mahendra said this step was needed to improve governance, risk management and compliance with all regulations.
“What is also important, of course, is for the performance of BPR,” ordered Mahendra.
“And most importantly, in this self-liquidation process, we will ensure that we prioritize customer protection and ensure that all bank obligations are completed properly,” OJK promised.
However, there is no official explanation regarding which bank proposed the self-liquidation.OJK also did not specify exactly which bank was meant.
Meanwhile, referring to the latest data from January 2025 to October 2025, six banks have closed.OJK revoked the business permits of the six banks because they did not meet capital requirements and had liquidity problems.
Of the six banks that were closed, four of them were BPRs and the rest were sharia people’s credit banks (BPRS).Here are the details: BPRS Gebu Prima, BPR Dwicahaya Nusaperkasa, BPR Disky Surya Jaya, BPRS Gayo Perseroda, BPR Artha Kramat, and BPR Nagajayaraya Sentrasentosa.
