If detailed since November 2024, there have been 7,500 air violations by Israel and 2,500 blood violations north of the Blue Line. All happened within Lebanese territory.
“A fragile calm prevails along the Blue Line,” UNIFIL wrote
Middle East Monitor
.The Blue Line itself marks Israel’s withdrawal line from Lebanon in 2000.
UNIFIL has been working with the Lebanese army to carry out daily patrols. The patrols were carried out to prevent escalation and help restore stability in southern Lebanon.
In addition, UNIFIL also reported having discovered more than 360 abandoned weapons caches that were handed over to the Lebanese army.
On September 5, the Lebanese government approved a military plan to ensure all weapons are fully owned by the state. However, Hezbollah continues to reject calls to surrender its weapons.
Previously, UNIFIL also reported Israel’s latest action in the Lebanese region by building a wall in the southern territory. This location is close to the Blue Line.
“A T-shaped concrete wall was erected by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) southwest of Yaroun. Surveys confirmed that the wall breaks through the Blue Line, making 4 thousand square meters of Lebanese territory inaccessible to residents,” UNIFIL said.
UNIFIL calls Israel’s presence and the development carried out in Lebanese territory a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 as well as Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
However, Israeli troops helped UNIFIL’s statement. They claim that the wall was built in 2022 and is part of a wider plan.
