UNIFIL discovered a T-shaped concrete wall since October.They said Israel’s move violated Lebanon’s sovereignty.
“A T-shaped concrete wall was erected by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) southwest of Yaroun. Surveys confirmed the wall breaks through the Blue Line, making 4,000 square meters of Lebanese territory inaccessible to Lebanese citizens,” UNIFIL said, reported by AFP, Friday (14/11).

“In November peacekeepers observed construction of a T-shaped wall in the area. Surveys confirmed a section of the wall southeast of Yaroun also blocks the Blue Line,” UNIFIL said.
UNIFIL said Israel’s presence and the development they carried out in Lebanese territory was a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 as well as Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We once again remind the IDF to fully respect the Blue Line and withdraw troops from all areas north of the line,” UNIFIL said.
Israeli forces denied UNIFIL’s statement.Israel says the wall will be built in 2022 and is part of a wider plan.
They claim to have taken a series of steps since the war with Lebanon.One of them is strengthening physical barriers along the northern border.
“It must be emphasized that the wall does not break the Blue Line,” said the IDF.
During the ceasefire, Israel withdrew troops from southern Lebanon.However, these troops were maintained in five areas considered strategic.
They routinely attack Lebanon on the pretext of targeting Hezbollah headquarters.
