The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed that at least 67 Palestinian children were murdered
Israel
in the Gaza Strip since a ceasefire agreement mediated by the United States (US) took effect last month.
This number of children’s deaths occurred amidst a wave of ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
UNICEF spokesman, Ricardo Pires, during a press conference in Geneva on Friday (21/11), said the dead included a baby girl who was killed in an Israeli air strike on her home in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Thursday (20/11).

The victims also included seven other children who were killed the day before, when Israel launched attacks across the enclave.
“This happened during the agreed ceasefire. This pattern is very surprising,” Pires said of the death toll since October 11, the first full day of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, as reported
Al Jazeera
, Friday (21/11).
“As we have repeated many times, this is not just a statistic: Every victim is a child with a family, a dream, a life, suddenly cut short by ongoing violence,” he added.
The Largest Child Victims in Modern History
Palestinian children have borne the brunt of Israel’s attacks on Gaza.UNICEF estimated last month that 64,000 children had been killed and injured in Israeli attacks since the war began in October 2023.
The organization Save the Children reported this week that, by 2024, an average of 475 Palestinian children will “suffer lifelong disabilities” every month from the war, including traumatic brain injuries and burns.
The humanitarian group also said Gaza had become “home to the largest group of amputee children in modern history.”
In addition, Israel is accused of using hunger in Gaza as a weapon of war, plunging the region into a humanitarian crisis. This has led to several hunger-related deaths among children, who are especially vulnerable when food supplies run out.
This week, the Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes in Gaza in response to an incident they claimed involved shooting their troops in Khan Younis.Hamas rejected Israel’s claims, calling the latest attacks, which killed at least 32 Palestinians, a “dangerous escalation” that showed the Israeli government wanted to “continue genocide” in Gaza.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) on Friday (21/11) said its teams in Gaza had treated several Palestinian women and children with open fractures and gunshot wounds to the limbs and head amid a wave of Israeli attacks.
In addition to Israel’s brutal attacks, Palestinians in Gaza continue to struggle amid ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid from Israel, including tents needed to shelter refugee families during the colder winter months.
UNICEF’s Pires said many children were sleeping in the open and shivering while living in flooded emergency shelters.
“The reality forced on Gaza’s children remains brutal and simple: There is no safe place for them and the world cannot continue to normalize their suffering,” he said, urging more aid to be allowed into the territory.
“For hundreds of thousands of children living in tents on the ruins of their former homes, winter is a threat multiplier. Children shiver all night with no heat, no insulation and too few blankets,” he said.
