, Victor Osimhen and his friends boycotted training because they demanded payment of bonuses and training camp fees that the NFF had not paid since 2019.
The NFF itself refused to comment on this issue. One of the NFF officials said that the authorities would explain this.
“The (NFF) President will discuss it in due course,” the official said.
Meanwhile, according to one of the players’ confession to ESPN, they will still undergo preparations regardless of whether there is a resolution to this issue or not.The boycott was planned to shed light on the issue and force the NFF to speed up payments after months of reneged on promises.
“Whether they pay or not, we will keep training. This game is too important for us, but we want them to understand that they can’t keep promising and failing,” said the player.
Even so, 24 hours into the uncertainty, resolution emerged.Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong said the players were ending the boycott and would focus on the match.
“Problem SOLVED. We are together and, as before, focused on the game ahead!”Troost-Ekong said.
However, the details regarding the agreement between the players and the NFF regarding this resolution are not yet clear.
