, will reportedly receive a massive salary increase after he won the city’s leadership election earlier this week.
Before running for mayor of New York, Mamdani was a member of the New York State Assembly.The 34 year old man will officially serve as Mayor of New York City on January 1, 2026.

as Mayor of New York City, Mamdani will receive an annual salary of US$258,750 (Rp. 4.32 billion) per year, an increase of almost more than 80 percent from the salary when he served as a member of the New York State Assembly, which was around US$ 142,000 (Rp. 2.3 billion) per year.
Apart from the fantastic salary increase, Mamdani will also receive the privilege of the luxurious official residence Gracie Mansion, which has been the residence of the mayor of New York all this time.Mamdani is even free from rent while living in this official residence.
Currently, Mamdani and his wife, Rama Duwaji, live in a rental apartment in the Astoria area, Queens, with a monthly rent of US$2,300 (Rp. 38.3 million).

, Mamdani’s net worth currently stands at US$200,000 (Rp. 3.3 billion).
As mayor, he will also receive security from the New York City Police (NYPD) as well as various city government employee benefits, including health insurance.
How much does Mamdani’s salary compare to other positions?
On the one hand, this big pay increase isn’t all that surprising.Because, the responsibility of managing a city with a population of more than 8 million people is much greater than representing around 140,000 residents in Queens when Mamdani served as
assemblyman

However, this salary is not the highest among US mayors.For example, the Mayor of San Francisco earns more than US$380,000 (Rp. 6.3 billion) per year and the Mayor of Los Angeles receives around US$300,000 (Rp. 5 billion) per year.
The salaries of these mayors are much higher than the average salary of members of the US Senate and House of Representatives, which averages US$174,000 (Rp. 2.9 billion) per year.
This salary also exceeds the income of House Speaker Mike Johnson, who reached US$223,500, as well as President Donald Trump’s cabinet ministers who received around US$246,400 per year.
In comparison, former New York City Mayor and media tycoon, Mike Bloomberg, refused to receive a full salary when he served in 2002-2013 and only took a salary of US$1.
Gracie Mansion luxury home
Nearly all of New York City’s mayors have lived in Gracie Mansion, a two-story house on the elite Upper East Side overlooking the East River.
The one exception was Bloomberg, who chose to remain at his private home on East 79th Street, just a few blocks away.
Bloomberg even suggested that his successor not live in Gracie Mansion, but that advice apparently fell on deaf ears.
Bill de Blasio moved into the house in 2014, and Eric Adams also chose to live there.
Mamdani also stated that he plans to do the same.
