(BNPB) reported that the number of victims who died due to flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra increased to 961 people as of 16.00 WIB, Monday (8/12).
Head of the BNPB Data and Information Center, Abdul Muhari said the joint SAR team found 40 bodies of disaster victims in a number of areas today.
Based on data presented at a limited meeting yesterday, Sunday (7/12), the total number of victims who died was 921 people, 392 people missing, and evacuees in the three provinces reached 975,000 people.

“The search and rescue team led by Basarnas, supported by the joint team, managed to find 40 bodies, with details for Aceh increasing by 23, from 366, today to 389 people who died. Then for North Sumatra, from the 329 bodies that have been found, today the number increased by 9 to 338 people died. Furthermore, for West Sumatra yesterday there were 226 people, today an increase of 8 bodies found to 234 people,” said Muhari in a press conference held.broadcast on YouTube BNPB.
Muhari said that his party recorded that the total number of missing victims had decreased from 392 people today to 293 people.
“Of course the joint team in the field will continue to make as much effort as possible, as optimally as possible, so that we can minimize the number of victims who are currently missing as little as possible,” he said.
Furthermore, Muhari said there had been a surge in the number of refugees.As of today, there are additional refugees in East Aceh and Bener Meriah, bringing the total to 1,057,482 people.
“This is of course our duty at the main post to continue to optimize the distribution of aid, to be able to meet basic needs in refugee camps,” said Muhari.
BNPB also reported that as many as 4,200 people were injured as a result of the disaster.Then there were 1,300 public facilities damaged, 199 health facilities damaged and 697 educational facilities damaged.
Apart from that, BNPB reported that 420 places of worship were damaged, 234 buildings or offices were damaged and 405 bridges were damaged.
