).Based on the latest data from the North Sumatra Regional Police, the number of victims who have died has now reached 34 people, and 52 other people are still being searched for.
Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Ferry Walintukan, said that the 12 districts and cities affected by floods and landslides were Madina, Nisel, Pakpak Bharat, Sergai, Tapteng, North Tapanuli, Nias, Tapsel, Humbahas, Padangsidimpuan, Sibolga City and Langkat.
“On 24-26 November 2025, a natural disaster occurred in North Sumatra. The total number of victims reached 175 people, with details of 34 people dead, 77 people slightly injured, 11 people seriously injured, 52 people were searched and the number of refugees was 1,168 people,” he explained, Thursday (27/11).

According to Ferry, the number of natural disasters reached 148 cases spread across 12 city districts, including 86 landslides, 53 floods, 7 fallen trees and 2 tornadoes.
“Several areas experienced the most serious impacts, such as South Tapanuli with 22 incidents and the highest number of fatalities, namely 17 deaths, and 73 residents were injured. Then in Sibolga, 59 victims were affected, consisting of 8 dead, 5 injured, and 46 still being searched for.
Then there were 20 Humbang Hasundutan (Humbahas) incidents with 6 victims, including 2 dead and 5 still missing.Then, 2 residents of Pakpak Bharat died due to landslides that occurred throughout the area.
“Meanwhile, areas such as Sergai, Mandailing Natal and Langkat did not record any fatalities, but they still experienced damage and residents were forced to flee to safer places.”Currently, data collection is still being collected for the flood disaster in the cities of Medan and Deliserdang,” he explained.
Ferry added that the North Sumatra Regional Police had deployed 1,030 personnel for emergency handling, consisting of the ranks of the Police, Ditsamapta, Satbrimob, Bidtik and Biddokes.Emergency measures that have been taken include evacuating victims, regulating traffic at landslide points, as well as searching for missing residents with BPBD and elements of the TNI.
The weather today, added Ferry, is still of high intensity.He appealed to people in disaster-prone areas to remain alert.The North Sumatra Regional Police together with the regional government and BPBD continue to search for missing victims, repair emergency infrastructure, and fulfill the needs of refugees.
“Humanitarian aid has also been sent to the Taput, Tapteng and Sibolga areas.”Emergency response posts are starting to be built in the most affected areas to facilitate coordination and distribution of aid,” he explained.
