Powerball in the state of Arkansas, United States (US), received the most extraordinary “Christmas gift” in its history.
This ticket won a jackpot worth US$1.817 billion or around Rp. 28.1 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 15,500/1 US$) in the Christmas Eve drawing, Tuesday (24/12).
Powerball confirmed on Wednesday (25/12) that this win was the second largest lottery prize in United States history.The ticket sold in the Southern region of the US managed to match all six winning numbers.

The lucky numbers that came out in the December 24 2025 draw are 4, 25, 31, 52 and 59.
The lucky winner is now faced with two choices of how to collect the prize, namely cash payment in one go or
Lump Sum
by receiving cash amounting to US$834.9 million (around Rp. 12.9 trillion).
Then the second option is a 30-year annuity, receiving full payments of US$1.817 billion paid in installments every year for 30 years.
The authority stressed that both options would still be subject to huge tax deductions under federal and state law.
Chances of Winning 1 in 292 Million
This victory was considered a statistical miracle.According to Powerball data, the odds of winning this jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
Tim Chartier, a mathematics professor at Davidson College, provides an extreme illustration of how slim the odds are.
