Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said 54 people were injured as a result
explosion at SMA 72 Kelapa Gading
, North Jakarta, Friday (7/11).
The dozens of victims consisted of serious and light injuries.”We received initial data of approximately 54 people. There were minor injuries, moderate injuries, and some have gone home,” Karyoto told reporters, Friday.

Polda Metro Jaya opened a post to help victims and their families.Command posts were opened at Yarsi Hospital and Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital.
The investigation into the SMA 72 Kelapa Gading explosion is still ongoing.The combined team of
TNI, Polri and Gegana were dispatched to the explosion site to carry out combing and sterilization.
The explosion at SMA 72 Kelapa Gading occurred at around 12.15 WIB or in the middle of Friday prayers.
Initial suspicions were that the explosion came from around the mosque in the school area.The trigger is thought to be from
sound system
which is used during Friday prayers.However, the police have not confirmed this allegation.
Police also revealed that there was an object similar to an airsoft gun around the explosion location.Police are still investigating the found object.
Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police are investigating suspected acts of terrorism in the SMA 72 explosion.
“Until now, Densus 88 is still investigating whether the incident contained elements of terrorism or not,” said Densus 88 spokesperson AKBP Mayndra Eka Wardhana when confirmed.
Mayndra has not revealed further details about the explosion.He said further information would be provided by Polda Metro Jaya.
