Deputy Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Eddy O.S.Hiariej stated that there was a progressive paradigm shift in the new KUHAP.According to him, the old KUHAP adhered to the Crime Control Model which provided very minimal protection for human rights, while the new KUHAP adheres to the Due Process Model, which must ensure that procedural law must respect human rights and law enforcement officers must comply with the procedural law.And according to Eddy, there will be both ethical and criminal sanctions for investigators and public prosecutors who act unprofessionally and exceed their authority.
