Vietnam Airlines officially launched a direct flight route connecting Jakarta, Indonesia, with Hanoi, Vietnam.
The first flight from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) International Airport departed on Sunday, November 23 2025.

, the inaugural flight from Jakarta carried 131 passengers and landed in Hanoi at 05.50 local time, November 23 2025, after a flight time of 4 hours 20 minutes.

Previously, a flight with the opposite route, namely flight VN635, had left Hanoi at 20.15, 22 November 2025, and landed in Jakarta at 00.40, 23 November 2025.
This direct service on the Hanoi-Jakarta route is operated using an Airbus A321 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 185 passengers.This flight route is expected to further encourage bilateral economic, trade and tourism exchanges between the two countries.
Plan to Increase Flight Frequency
According to Vietnam Airlines, they currently operate daily services connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Jakarta and Bali.Meanwhile, the new Jakarta-Hanoi route has been established with a frequency of five times a week.
Vietnam Airlines’ Head of Representative in Indonesia, Tran Tuan Nghia, said the airline plans to increase the frequency of flights on the Jakarta-Hanoi route from five to seven times a week or a daily schedule starting April next year, in order to meet passenger demand in both countries.
Gapura Angkasa Human Resources Director, Made Hardika, the largest ground-handling service provider in Indonesia, welcomed this expansion.He noted that his company had collaborated closely and effectively with Vietnam Airlines at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Denpasar, Bali.
Hardika assessed the airline’s route expansion in Indonesia as very impressive and effective, and expressed confidence in further growth, which will contribute to strengthening tourism, economic cooperation and connectivity between the two countries.
It is estimated that the opening of this direct route will make the Indonesia-Vietnam tourism trend develop and increase in the future.
