Kapadzes said that Kapadzes’ success in leading Uzbekistan to the 2026 World Cup was in line with PSSI’s vision of a coach with international experience who could play a role in the transition period.

The position of coach for the Indonesian National Team is currently vacant after Patrick Kluivert was fired due to failure in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup.
“Kapadze is instrumental in helping Uzbekistan qualify for the 2026 World Cup. This achievement raises his profile in the coaching market, especially in the eyes of federations which are looking for coaches with international experience and able to handle the transition period,” wrote Lam Dong.
Previously, as reported by Uzbekistan media, Zamin, Kapadze may soon take over duties as coach of the Indonesian National Team after parting ways with Uzbekistan.
“I am ready to lead the Indonesian national team. Currently I am free and waiting for an offer,” said Kapadze in an interview with the Uzbekistan news agency, UZA, reported by Zamin.
Kapadze started as head coach of Uzbekistan in 2025, after managing the U-23 team since 2021. He also served as interim coach of Uzbekistan in 2018.
