Siri marriage itself refers to a marriage that is not officially registered with a state institution such as the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA).Even though it is considered valid according to Islamic religious law, this marriage has no legal force in the eyes of the state.
Deputy General Chair of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Anwar Abbas said that if the religious marriage requirements are not met, then an unregistered marriage could become haram.
Anwar said that the practice of unregistered marriages should be officially registered at the Religious Affairs Office (KUA).This is necessary to avoid harm or negative impacts.

PBNU Chairman for Religious Affairs, Ahmad Fahrur Rozi, also expressed a similar thing.According to him, women could be the ones who suffer losses in unregistered marriages.

He also highlighted the potential for hidden prostitution from the services offering unregistered marriages.
“If it is commercially related, it is often disguised prostitution. That is also dangerous,” he added.
He also reminded that unregistered marriages violate the laws in force in Indonesia.By law, every marriage that occurs in Indonesia must be officially registered.
“So, people should be careful. Because if something happens, there is no real data, no rights that can be claimed and so on,” he said.
