welcoming the Indonesian Padel Executive Board (PBPI) and Indonesian Padel National Team athletes.In a meeting at the Ministry of Youth and Sports office, Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12) Erick asked for a roadmap for the padel sport.
Erick discussed the projection of padel as one of the leading sports in Indonesia.By reaching third place in the 2025 FIP Padel Asia Championship, Erick believes padel has great potential in other competitions.
“The results of this meeting can be part of the roadmap for padel administrators. I will ask for a roadmap, just like other sports such as aquatics which came yesterday, then weightlifting, I ask for a roadmap for what kind of SEA Games, what kind of Asian Games, what kind of Olympics,” said Erick.
Erick said that currently there are 21 priority sports being discussed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and related parties.This number is an addition to the previous 17 sports.
The list of 17 priority sports is athletics, archery, cycling, rowing, gymnastics, weightlifting, badminton, taekwondo, karate, wushu, rock climbing, shooting, pencak silat, swimming, football, basketball and volleyball.Meanwhile, the four that entered are still in the discussion stage.
“Because with the direction and agreement that we have also started to discuss, we will focus on 21 leading sports. And we will revise the DBON [National Sports Grand Design],” he said.

Meanwhile, PBPI Chairman Galih Kartasasmita said his party’s focus is on Southeast Asian level tournaments next year before looking at the 2027 Malaysia SEA Games.
“So in March we will hold the South East Asia Cup for outreach towards Malaysia in Thailand. So if it becomes a sport at the Malaysia [SEA Games], then we will help the Minister of Youth and Sports to become one of the achievers too,” said Galih.
