Indonesian National Team
.So, what is the selection mechanism?
PSSI Deputy General Chair Zainudin Amali said that currently there are five figures who are being approached by PSSI.It’s just that PSSI is reluctant to reveal the names of its candidates.
Amali said that the initial stage carried out by PSSI was to search for and review candidates who were considered suitable.This process was carried out by the PSSI Technical Director and the National Team Agency.

Currently the position of PSSI Technical Director is held by Alexander Zwiers and the Chair of the PSSI National Team Board is filled by Sumardji.Both were asked to carry out in-depth studies.
Once a candidate or figure is found who is deemed suitable, an interview process will be carried out.For this process, the federation again assigned Sumardji and Zwiers.
After that, Sumardji and Zwiers will provide a report to the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) of 15 people, including PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir.
“Well, we’re waiting for Mr. Mardji. So Mr. Mardji wants to interview and nominate. Then we ask him to be taken to the Exco meeting, that’s the statute,” said Amali, Wednesday (26/11).
“You’ve read the statute, right? The one with the letter L. That the executive committee, one of its powers is to determine the national team coach. So that’s all. We just do that.”
Later, all matters, including the salaries requested by prospective coaches, will be discussed at the PSSI Exco meeting.From here it will be determined who will train the Indonesian National Team.
The mechanism, said Amali, usually does not reach the opinion poll or voting stage.Usually, Exco PSSI can have one vote to determine the choice.
“For example, if the request is too expensive and the federation can’t afford it, we can’t force it. So it’s according to our capabilities, but we also ask for quality.”
“We don’t want to vote. The important thing is that the target is clear. Then people can meet the target or not. We don’t do anything like that,” explained Amali.
