Prabowo immediately held his first meeting with the commission.
So what will Jimly Cs do after being appointed?
Chairman of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission, Jimly Asshiddique, said he would hold his first meeting at National Police Headquarters on Monday (10/11).
Jimly conveyed this after receiving directions from Prabowo.
“Of course we will hold an internal meeting first and God willing, on Monday at 1 o’clock we will hold the first meeting at the National Police office, the National Police Chief’s office,” said Jimly.
Jimly targets this commission to work optimally and quickly even though Prabowo is not given a working time limit.
“There has been a report for at least 3 months, although it can develop according to needs,” he said.
He said this committee was also ready to support each other’s performance with the National Police’s internal police reform team which some time ago was formed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
Jimly believes that Listyo, who is also on this committee, is very open and responsive.
“A sign of the police’s internal readiness to be open, whatever needs to be repaired, we will fix it,” he said.
Jimly said he did not rule out the possibility that his team’s findings would change regulations and even laws if it was deemed necessary to improve the system.
“This means we are still open. So any ideas for changes, improvements, if necessary, we will be forced to change the law, that’s about it,” explained Jimly.
Jimly said the commission was very open to input. He admitted that he wanted to gather opinions from various parties.
“We really want to gather opinions that might result in having to change the law, so we also have to be ready, but it’s not certain, it’s not certain,” he said.
Jimly said this commission would listen to voices from various parties, from community leaders to activists.
This commission, said Jimly, is also open to holding discussion forums with related parties that it feels are needed.
“Because the police belong to the people, serve the people, protect the people, protect the people. That’s why the president directed this team not to formulate it themselves, we also listen,” he said.
He also said that this commission would work first.Only later will the results of the study through member deliberations or listening to the voices of various parties be the result.
“What needs to be changed, what systems do we need to improve, later we will discuss together while listening to all groups,” he said.
