between countries, including when this service can be used in

and South Korea.
He said that the development of cross-border QRIS continues to show a positive trend, in line with the increase in incoming transactions (

He added that QRIS access can now be used in Japan.In fact, early next year the use of QRIS is targeted to begin in China, followed by South Korea.
“Well, for Japan, you can also try it. If you want to buy sushi in Tokyo, you can do it, friends. Hopefully next year, early next year, if you want to buy dim sum in Beijing, you can also do it,” said Filianingsih.
“Then next time, maybe if you want to buy tteokbokki in Seoul you can do that too. So in the meantime we will continue to pursue India so that we can also buy curry there,” he said.
With this development, BI targets Indonesians to be able to carry out daily cross-border transactions more easily without needing to exchange currency or use additional applications.
QRIS trials between countries are BI’s ongoing agenda.Previously, BI had connected QRIS services with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and China.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said that trials with South Korea were starting to be carried out.
Perry explained that the expansion of QRIS between countries will continue to other countries, such as India and Saudi Arabia.
He detailed that QRIS, which was launched in 2019, now has almost 60 million users, including 40 million MSMEs.Meanwhile, Indonesian digital transactions, starting from
mobile banking
to QRIS, reaching around 37 billion transactions per year.
BI has initiated QRIS interconnection trials with a number of countries, including China and South Korea.Trials with China began on August 17, to coincide with Indonesia’s 80th anniversary.
It is hoped that this payment connectivity will facilitate bilateral trade and support tourism, especially for MSMEs.BI is targeting the expansion of the use of QRIS between countries to China to be realized after the entire series of trials are declared ready.
