Bloomberg, as quoted by Variey on Wednesday (5/11), reported that KPop Demon Hunters will be broadcast in 2029. The production team needs quite a long time to work on the continuation of the animated film’s story.
However, sources said the broadcast schedule could still change depending on the film’s production situation.
Until this news was written, there was no official information from Netflix and Sony regarding the broadcast schedule for KPop Demon Hunters 2.

Estimates for the broadcast of the KPop Demon Hunters sequel are also circulating about one day before the 2026 Grammy Awards nomination list is announced on Friday (7/11).
On Friday (7/11), KPop Demon Hunters managed to set a record by receiving four nominations, three of which were for Golden which was popularized by HUNTR/X.
Enthusiasm for KPop Demon Hunters to have a sequel has been circulating among the public for the last few months, especially after the animated film exploded on the market.
Since premiering on June 20, 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has become Netflix’s most-watched film of all time, remaining on the Global Top 10 list six weeks in a row.
Rumors about KPop Demon Hunters 2 emerged after Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos publicly praised the film’s global phenomenon in its July 2025 earnings announcement.
Ted Sarandos called the K-pop Demon Hunters achievement a phenomenal success from the start and survived because of the music played in the animated film.
What is the KPop Demon Hunters 2 story about?
Maggie Kang as the creator of KPop Demon Hunters admits that she already has a story idea to continue the story of the animated musical film.He admitted that he was interested in developing the backstory or origins of HUNTR/X.
HUNTR/X is a Kpop girl group with members Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) which turns out to also be a group of demon hunters.
“We tried to create a non-original origin story with a concept that is completely new to many people,” said Maggie Kang, as reported by Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday (20/8).
“What is it about these girls that brings them to HUNTR/X and makes them demon hunters? What is their respective backgrounds? How were they chosen? What is the journey like?”
Meanwhile, the main characters want something else.Arden Cho wants to see that HUNTR/X can save Jinu (Ahn Hyo-seop) who disappeared after making a sacrifice to protect Rumi Cs against Gwi Ma (Lee Byung-hyun).
“I would love to see if we can save Jinu!”said Arden Cho as reported by Variety on Wednesday (13/8).
“The world is magical, right? It feels like the options are limitless, and our amazing writers and directors have opened it up a bit. Anything is possible,” he said.
However, there is no official information regarding the plot or story of KPop Demon Hunters 2.
