“So if someone says, how come there isn’t one in Indonesia yet? Actually, it already exists as of 2025, it’s one of the first programs we completed in our first year,” said Meutya at the National Meeting of Digital Literacy Activists in Jakarta, Wednesday (17/12).
“Why hasn’t it been felt yet? Yes, the rule is that we have to give it at least one year for it to happen

.”Hopefully we can do it next year,” he added.
He said there were several things that needed to be prepared, such as details of implementing these regulations.
According to Meutya, Australia, which just officially banned social media (medsos) on December 10, is also the same.
He said the regulation banning social media in Australia was born in November 2024, but was only officially implemented in December 2025.
Furthermore, Meutya also highlighted the importance of digital platform support so that the implementation of these regulations can run well.
Apart from the platform, parents also need to be prepared to implement these rules.
“We also have to prepare parents, because sometimes they say parents also let their children play on social media,” explained Meutya.
Even though the role of parents is important, the sanctions imposed by this rule only target platforms, not parents, let alone children.
“This regulation will only impose sanctions on the platform, not on parents, not on children. Because in Komdigi the rules relate to the digital realm, not to parents,” he explained.
PP Tunas was officially ratified by President Prabowo Subianto on March 30.This rule regulates the use of social media by children under 18 years of age.
For example, children under 18 years of age are prohibited from creating accounts independently without parental assistance and supervision.Children can only access it independently when they are 18 years old.
Then, children’s access to digital platforms is also classified based on age and platform risk level.
