“If it’s possible, we hope that the awarding of the title of national hero should be properly studied. The previous MPR decision and the spirit of reform, I see this movement has very high controversy,” said Yasonna at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).
According to Yasonna, the government also needs to provide an explanation because it is not easy.The former Minister of Law and Human Rights under President Joko Widodo also reminded that in the future the awarding of the title of hero should be done carefully.
“It would be better to give a more complete explanation because this is not easy. So, I hope that if we award the title of national hero, we hope that we will be careful,” he said.
Suharto was included in the list of 40 names proposed as national heroes.
The list of names has been officially submitted to the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Council for Degrees, Service and Honors (GTK) Fadli Zon at the Ministry of Culture Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/10).
However, Suharto’s proposed name has now attracted a lot of criticism.Deputy Chair of CommissionEsti, who is also Chair of the PDIP DPP, believes that there are several aspects that need to be considered.
“There are no points that can then change, change so that he can become a national hero. There are certain things that must still be considered,” he said.
Meanwhile, Palace Spokesperson and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that President Prabowo Subianto was studying the names that had been proposed by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
“We have officially received the names of our heroes from the Ministry of Social Affairs as a result of the Titles and Merits Council. The President is currently studying them because quite a lot of names have been submitted,” he told reporters, quoted Friday (31/10).
