Zootopia 2
and Wicked: For Good succeeded in making cinemas in the United States full of visitors throughout the Thanksgiving long weekend.
During this holiday week, Zootopia 2 successfully earned revenues of up to US$156 million or Rp. 2.5 trillion (US$ 1=Rp. 16,663) since Wednesday (26/11), with US$ 96.8 million coming from weekend broadcasts.

This achievement was reported by Variety on Sunday (30/11) as the second best Thanksgiving release in history after Moana 2 (2024) which grossed US$225 million in five days.
Zootopia 2’s achievements also beat Frozen II (2019) which grossed US$125 million in the same period.In addition, this achievement surpassed that of Zootopia (2016), which opened with US$75 million and became a global hit with a box office of US$1.02 billion.
In the international market, Zootopia 2 was also received enthusiastically, especially in China.In the Bamboo Curtain country, this film earned a record US$272 million in China and increased its revenue in international markets to US$400 million.
“The overwhelming response to Zootopia 2 reflects its worldwide appeal and the hard work of our filmmakers and cast,” said Alan Bergman, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, as reported by Variety.
“This is a proud moment for Disney Animation and all of us at Disney, not to mention a great way to kick off the holiday season,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Zootopia 2’s numbers in the domestic market immediately shifted Wicked: For Good from first place last week to second place.Even so, the film starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo still attracts audience interest.
In its second week of broadcast, according to Box Office Mojo data, Wicked: For Good managed to gross US$62.8 million last weekend.And when combined with the long holiday, this film earned US$93 million.

noted, although the debut of Wicked Part 2 was bigger than the debut moment, the results after that were not as successful as the first film.Wicked (2024) grossed US$115 million in the five days after its debut.

Even so, Wicked For Good is still the best-selling film with North American domestic revenues of US$270.4 million and US$393.3 million globally after 10 days of showing in cinemas.
“Thanksgiving is one of the most important times of the year for moviegoers,” said Comscore’s head of market trends, Paul Dergarabedian.”This is an encouraging result after a very turbulent post-summer season for the industry.”
Meanwhile, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t remained in third place with revenues of US$7 million in its third week of broadcast.Then Predator: Badlands is in fourth place with US$4.8 million and The Running Man is in fifth place with US$3.7 million.
