The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that he was used to distributing rice to residents by carrying it.
“Every time I go to my area, I give rice, I usually carry rice, usually. Usually 500 (kg), 100 (kg), 5 kg, I usually do that, I share, usually,” he said at the BIG Conference 2025 at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, Monday (8/12).
Zulhas said he had been taught to share by his mother.Therefore, he does not mind if his way of sharing is currently criticized by the public.

He emphasized that the most important thing now is to help the victims of the flood-landslide disaster in Sumatra.
“The most important thing, I invite ladies and gentlemen, let’s not get angry, don’t just get emotional. Let’s help our brothers and sisters in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra. Even one rupiah is important for them, one sack of rice is important, whatever,” he said.
“If you want to protect me, that’s okay, but help our brothers,” he continued.
The rice pelting action was uploaded in a video on his Instagram account during a visit to West Sumatra on November 30.Netizens assessed that Zulhas’ actions were just an image.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the number of victims who died due to the flood-landslide disaster in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra increased on Sunday (7/12).
Based on BNPB data, the number of victims who died as a result of the disaster was 916 people, an increase of 2 people from data on Saturday (6/12) afternoon.Meanwhile, the number of missing people is 274 people.
BNPB also reported that as many as 4,200 people were injured as a result of the disaster.Then there were 1,300 public facilities damaged, 199 health facilities damaged and 697 educational facilities damaged.
Apart from that, BNPB reported that 420 places of worship were damaged, 234 buildings or offices were damaged and 405 bridges were damaged.
